fixed positioning in IE6

Another major flaw in Internet Explorer is it's handling of fixed positioning. I, personally, love to use fixed positioning on headers, footers, and left and/or right columns while giving my primary content absolute positioning. It makes for an interesting affect in keeping a frame for your page where you want it and allowing everything else to scroll. In addition, in certain applications, it allows us to get rid of floats (which IE also has trouble rendering. . . go figure).

There are some "hacks" around this IE7 supports fixed positioning, but for now, this doesn't quite work well. For more information on fixed positioning, please read our sections on CSS positioning or check out our example on fixed positioning.
